Angelique Kerber has reached the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open after Samantha Stosur was forced to pull out of their match through injury.

Former US Open champion Stosur has withdrawn from the tournament with a calf problem.

Fourth seed Kerber will face either Victoria Azarenka or Caroline Wozniacki in the last four.

Kerber's previous best at Indian Wells was a semi-final appearance last year.
