Florent Serra into second round after match retired

Serra through, Lopez retires

Florent Serra has been gifted a spot in the second round of the French Open after Feliciano Lopez retired through injury.

The pair went head to head on the clay court this morning but Lopez showed early signs of struggle, which Serra managed to capitalise on.

The 31-year-old Frenchman dominated the clash with ease and was close to securing the first set until the match was stopped at 5-0 due to injury for Lopez.

Serra will face either Karol Beck or Lukasz Kubot in the second round of the Roland Garros.
