Tommy Robredo comes from two sets behind to beat Gael Monfils in the third round of the French Open.

Tommy Robredo has secured a place in the fourth round of the French Open by defeating Gael Monfils 2-6 6-7[5] 6-2 7-6[3] 6-2 in Paris.

Monfils started off the stronger of the two, leaving Robredo with too much to do as he won just two games in the opening set.

Despite his first-set struggle, Robredo fought back to take the second set to tie-break, but his efforts weren't rewarded as he narrowly missed out in a 7-5 win for Monfils.

While Monfils was buoyed by taking a two-set lead, he began to crumble when Robredo took control of the court with strong serves, which Monfils was unable to handle as his opponent snatched an early break.

After securing the third set, Robredo was given the task of forcing through a fifth and final set. Monfils looked likely to wrap up the contest by taking a 5-3 lead, but Robredo fought back once again to take the set to a tie-break.

Robredo managed to sneak a 7-3 win in the thrilling tie-break to take the match into a deciding set against the home favourite.

Monfils was clearly struggling for consistency and fatigue started to show as Robredo dominated the final set to win 6-2 and complete a stunning comeback at Roland Garros.
