Jo-Wilfried Tsonga progresses in Paris

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has advanced to the fourth round of the French Open after coming through in three straight sets against the unseeded Fabio Fognini.

Italian Fognini began well in the opening games against home favourite Tsonga but couldn't keep up this strong level of play over the course of the opening set, losing out 7-5.

A single break was also enough in sets two and three as Tsonga's consistent serving and powerful groundstrokes proved too much for his counterpart, coming through 6-4 in both sets.

Tsonga will play the winner of the Gilles Simon-Stanislas Wawrinka match currently taking place on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
