Jo-Wilfried Tsonga leaves court in tears after quitting French Open with injury

Teary Tsonga quits French Open

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga made an emotional exit from the French Open on Saturday after he was forced to retire from his third-round match against Ernests Gulbis due to injury.

The world number seven, who was competing at his home Grand Slam, failed to finish a set as he walked away from the clay court with a 5-2 lead in the first.

It was a positive start for last year's semi-finalist as he broke Gulbis's serve to take a 3-1 lead, but despite saving four break points, the match became more of a struggle for Tsonga.

Before Gulbis had a chance to serve to stay in the match, Tsonga retired and walked off the court with tears in his eyes.

The Frenchman was beaten by eventual champion Stanislas Wawrinka in last year's semi-final at Roland Garros.
