Andy Murray holds on to reach semi-finals

Britain's Andy Murray is through to the semi-finals at the French Open after beating France's Gael Monfils in five sets.

Andy Murray has survived a comeback from Gael Monfils to reach the last four at the French Open, beating the 27th seed 6-4 6-1 4-6 1-4 6-0.

The seventh seed had to keep his cool in the first set as the Paris crowd cheered for his French opponent, but he managed to get the break to claim the opener.

Murray remained in control early in the second, winning the first three games to set himself up for a comfortable two-set lead, seemingly cruising into the semi-finals.

However, Monfils kept up with the Scot in the third set, and managed to take his first break points of the match as Murray was serving to stay in the set, keeping himself in the match.

The Frenchman's fightback continued in the fourth as Murray seemed to struggle with a thigh problem, allowing Monfils to get an early break before levelling the match.

However, the comeback left Monfils weary, allowing Murray to storm through the final set in 24 minutes as he prevented his opponent from holding serve once.

Murray will face defending champion Rafael Nadal in his semi-final.
