Kyle Edmund battles through to French Open third round

British number one Kyle Edmund is through to the French Open third round with a four-set win over Marton Fucsovics.

Kyle Edmund has progressed through to the French Open third round with victory over Marton Fucsovics.

The British number one is regarded as one of the tournament outsiders, and the 23-year-old showed more signs of his ability on clay in a 6-0 1-6 6-2 6-3 win.

Edmund was relentless during the opener - converting three out of six break points to wrap up a bagel set - but Fucsovics stormed back in the second with two breaks of his own.

The start of the third saw Edmund rediscover his touch and after striking two more times, the 16th seed found himself on the brink of a place in the last 32.

Fucsovics threatened a comeback but after the Hungarian wasted three break points during the middle of the fourth, Edmund capitalised to eventually wrap up the win in two hours and 16 minutes.

Edmund faces a tough test in the next round, with Italy's Fabio Fognini awaiting him on Saturday.
