Richard Gasquet sets up Andy Murray meeting

Richard Gasquet overcomes Kei Nishikori in four sets to book a French Open quarter-final date with Andy Murray.

Richard Gasquet will take on Andy Murray in the quarter-finals of the French Open thanks to his 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2 victory over Kei Nishikori this evening.

Number nine seed Gasquet had never previously gone beyond the fourth round of his home Grand Slam, but he took control of this contest against his Japanese opponent by winning the opening two sets.

Nishikori, ranked sixth in the world, responded by winning the third set, but Gasquet bounced back in the fourth.

He dropped just two games before serving out to love with a backhand winner down the line.

The 29-year-old will now face Murray for a place in the semi-finals, having lost on each of the last five occasions that he has faced the Scot.

The pair have met twice at Roland Garros - in 2010 and 2012 - with Murray winning both encounters.
