David Ferrer into second round of French Open

David Ferrer beats Lukas Lacko in straight sets in the first round of the French Open at Roland Garros.

David Ferrer has cruised into the second round of the French Open with a straight-sets 61- 6-3 6-1 victory over Lukas Lacko.

The Spaniard took just 83 minutes to see off his Slovakian opponent in three sets at Roland Garros.

Both players broke serve in the first two games, but it was Ferrer who soon took control of the opening set, breaking Lacko twice again to race into a 5-1 lead. The world number eight made no mistake as he served out the set 6-1.

Lacko offered more resistance in the second set, holding his own until the seventh game, when unforced errors allowed Ferrer to break. Ferrer did not let his advantage slip and he broke in the final game to claim the set 6-3.

The final set started in similar fashion to the second, with both players holding serve comfortably. However, Lacko dropped serve in the fourth game and never recovered, as Ferrer broke once more on his way to taking the set 6-1 and book his place in the next round.
