Tomljanovic upbeat despite defeat

Ajla Tomljanovic has insisted that she can be proud of her achievements at the French Open following her fourth-round exit at the hands of Carla Suarez Navarro.

The 21-year-old Croatian recorded an impressive victory over Agnieszka Radwanska in the last round, but she was beaten 6-3 6-3 by the 14th seed on Sunday.

Despite the disappointment of leaving Roland Garros early, Tomljanovic believes that she can take plenty of encouragement from her run at the tournament.

"I am disappointed that I lost today," she told the WTA's official website. "I wish I could have played better. But aside from today, there have obviously been a lot more positives than negatives at this tournament. I showed that I can play well and compete against the best girls."

Suarez Navarro's reward for beating Tomljanovic is a quarter-final encounter with Canada's Eugenie Bouchard.
