Andy Murray pleased with straight-sets win

Murray pleased with straight-sets win

Andy Murray has admitted that he was glad to progress to the quarter-finals of the French Open in straight sets this afternoon.

The Briton beat Fernando Verdasco 6-4 7-5 7-6 to set up a last-eight match against France's Gael Monfils.

The Wimbledon champion told Sky Sports News: "I tried to play very aggressive today because I knew I would be tired in my legs (after his five-set win over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the third round) and thankfully the balls were going in and that doesn't always happen but it's good to win in three sets.

"Now I'm playing Gael Monfils and it's going to be a great atmosphere. I'm really looking forward to it. I've know Gael since I was 10-years-old and he was 11. He's an unbelievable entertainer and so much fun to watch. He's one of my favourite players. There should be plenty of fun points."

Murray will play his quarter-final match on Wednesday.
