Simona Halep pleased with "aggressive" display against Sloane Stephens

Simona Halep claims that she "dominated" Sloane Stephens during her win over the American in the fourth round of the French Open.

Fourth seed Simona Halep has claimed that she "dominated" Sloane Stephens during her fourth-round win over the American at the French Open.

The Romanian, who is the highest seed left in the women's draw at Roland Garros, beat Stephens 6-4 6-3 on Monday.

Halep will now face Svetlana Kuznetsova or Lucie Safarova for a spot in the semi-finals.

"I think I managed very well the match," she is quoted as saying by The Guardian. "I opened the angles. I wanted to make her run a lot on court. I think I played aggressive. I dominated the match, I think. I didn't serve very well but I tried to return better and I did."

Halep had never got beyond the second round of the French Open before this year's tournament.
