Federer feeling "fresh" ahead of French Open quarters

Roger Federer has admitted that he is feeling "pumped" ahead of his quarter-final clash against Davis Cup teammate Stanislas Wawrinka at the French Open.

The world number two made light work of Gael Monfils at Roland Garros this afternoon, claiming a 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-1 victory to set up a meeting against his fellow countryman.

Federer was forced to wait to seal his place in the last eight due to bad light suspending play on Sunday night, but he insists that he remains in good shape heading into the business end of the Grand Slam event.

"I'm pumped up to be in the quarter-finals again," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "At this stage it's about progressing in the tournament.

"What's important right now is that I am physically fresh for the back end of the tournament."

Federer will feature in the quarter-finals of the French Open for an 11th time when he takes on Wawrinka.
