Novak Djokovic: 'Long way to go before Rafael Nadal clash'

World number one Novak Djokovic insists that there is a lot of tennis to be played before he potentially faces Rafael Nadal in the French Open quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic has insisted that he can't afford to look too far ahead as he attempts to win the French Open for the first time.

The world number one could face a quarter-final showdown with nine-time champion Rafael Nadal, but the Serbian has revealed that he is only focused on progressing through the early rounds at Roland Garros.

The 27-year-old told Sky Sports News: "As soon as Nadal dropped out of the top four, we knew that one of the top guys would probably meet him in the quarter-finals and this time, it was me. There is still a long way to the quarter-finals though. We both need to win four matches.

"I couldn't have asked for a better build-up. I've won 20 matches in a row, as well as winning titles in Monte Carlo and Rome, and hopefully I can carry that confidence into the next two weeks."

Djokovic will face Finland's Jarkko Nieminen in the first round.
