Novak Djokovic faced Grigor Dimitrov with both players looking to advance from the third round of the French Open on Saturday.

The Serbian defeated David Goffin and Guido Pella to reach this stage, while the Bulgarian got the better of Alejandro Falla and Lucas Pouille.

The world number one was beaten by Dimitrov at the Madrid Open earlier this month, but he stormed to an easy straight-sets win over Dimitrov.

That's it from me, I hope you enjoyed the match. Join us again tomorrow for more French Open action. Goodnight.

So a straight sets win for the world number one, and it was almost like a training match at times for Djokovic. Not a great showing from Dimitrov who will be upset with his performance.

GAME, SET AND MATCH! He's done it! Djokovic had two match points at one point, only for Dimitrov to hit an excellent winner to take it to 40-30, before showing his real talent and potential by smashing his way to a deuce. However, a wonderful backhand from Djokovic gave him the advantage before he clipped the net to send a shot out. But he made sure of the win after Dimitrov edged a shot out. Easy for Djokovic.

His right shoulder didn't seem to affect him much there. No response from Dimitrov as the top seed moves within one game from taking the match.

Djokovic has called for the trainer and is receiving some attention on his right arm.

He may have left the comeback a bit late but Dimitrov wins back to back games for the first time in the match after not letting the Serb get a sniff of a point there. He rounded up the game with a delightful chip to the tramline.

BREAK! Dimitrov took the lead in this set at 30-15 but Djokovic resumes usual service with a terrific forehand to level things up. The Bulgarian did have a chance to get a break point though but fluffed a service return into the net. However he gets the better of his opponent in the deuce to claim a break point.

BREAK! Dimitrov took a fantastic opening point by smashing a slam dunk style effort past the stunned Serb. However, Djokovic recovered to hit three straight points but was still forced to deuce after some good play from Dimitrov. The Serb takes the game again though as Dimitrov hits a simple return shot into the net to end the game.

That was quickly over, as Djokovic restores his two-game lead in this set with some sizzling tennis. The Serb is in the mood.

Dimitrov seemingly delays Djokovic wrapping up this match by taking a rare game. Credit it to him, but he is really struggling.

After conceding the first point, Dimitrov hits a lovely backhand up the line to level things up. The Bulgarian seems to be trying a lot harder now and is playing some neat stuff. He meets a shot at the net with a terrific volley to earn a break point. The two contest a competitive deciding deuce, but Djokovic is once again too strong.

BREAK! The third set starts in similar fashion to how the second ended. Djokovic breaks Dimitrov to love to take an early lead in the third and at this rate final set.

SET! There it is, Djokovic cruises to an unanswered game that wraps up the second set. It's been one-way traffic for this match so far and the Serb might not need too much longer before securing his spot in the next round.

Blimey, Dimitrov gets a game and needs treatment as a result. You would still expect Djokovic to take this set.

Same old, Djokovic hold out again. Even ITV and Eurospot have switched from showing this match to the Isner-Haas clash. I'll be sticking with this one though.

The crowd are starting to get a bit annoyed and have begun leaving it's that one sided. Isner and Haas are having a brilliant contest on the other court, and many spectators fancy viewing the closing stages of that.

BREAK! Desperate times for Dimitrov as the Serb takes his fourth-straight game. Djokovic is in full swing now and is proving too much for Dimitrov. When the Bulgarian can respond he is seemingly lashing out without any real control which is shown when he smashes a baseline effort down the line. This is real disappointing as a contest, too easy for the world number one.

Djokovic makes light work of the set's fourth game as he wins it 40-15. Dimitrov looks rattled, Djokovic looks unstoppable.

BREAK! The shot of the game comes from Djokovic to take the game to 30-0. He outdropshotted (That can't be a word) Dimitrov after the Bulgarian looked to have got the better of Djokovic, but the latter managed to slide in and win the point from an impossible angle. Djokovic then secured the game and broke to love, after Dimitrov sent a smash out of bounds.

Well after that mammoth previous game, Djokovic takes little under two minutes to hold his serve and level up the set.

Dimitrov nearly makes the perfect response by taking the first game of the second set but let a lead drop to force deuce after slamming a simple effort into the net. He does it again shortly after to award Djokovic the advantage. He recovers to take it to deuce once more but sliced into the net to hand his opponent back the initiative after a 27-shot rally. However, Djokovic failed to put the final nail in the coffin in an enthralling deuce battle and missed two easy shots to gift Dimitrov the opening game after letting slip three break points in a nine-minute game.

SET! Djokovic gets it after messing up his first two set points. Dimitrov secured deuce after a stretch the keep the game alive on the tramline leading to Djokovic volleying a simple return out. However he manages to take the advantage before securing the set.

What's this? Dimitrov cruises to this game. Smart play from the Bulgarian forces Djokovic to do all the running as he picks his spots. He manages to hold his serve and narrow the deficit. Djokovic is now serving for the first set.

Another very easy game for Djokovic, he is flying. His return game is just awesome, forcing Dimitrov all over the shop.

UNFORCED ERRORS: Djokovic 5-14 Dimitrov

BREAK! Dimitrov starts the game on the front foot with a sensational drop shot from deep that sends Djokovic skidding into the net. He then gets the better of a strong forehand rally which results in the world number one hitting his shot too long. Djokovic then brought the game to 30-15 with a deep baseline drive before levelling the game. Dimitrov spurned his break point into the net before surrendering another break point in the deuce, as Djokovic managed the first break of the contest.

It's easy for Djokovic as he makes the most of his powerful serve to barely allow Dimitrov a sniff of a point.

Again, it's a real battle of power as Dimitrov races to a big lead, forcing his opponent all over the place. The Bulgarian gave the Serb a chance of taking the game to deuce when he blasted an effort into the crowd. Dimitrov held on though to take his first game.

The opening stages of this match has really been a power battle between the two. Djokovic races to a 30-0 lead as Dimitrov sends two shots out, but he retaliates by levelling the score. The Serb then recovered and sealed the game when Dimitrov's baseline forehand crashed into the net.

Djokovic's deep forehand forces Dimitrov to hook his reply beyond the baseline for the opener. The Bulgarian sends another response crashing out of bounds. Dimitrov forced the Serb to slide about on the way to earning his first point of the match. However, Dimitrov overcooks another hit as Djokovic takes the opening game.

The match is about to get underway, with Dimitrov to serve.

Both players are currently out on the clay rallying, Djokovic is sporting a mint green polo while Dimitrov is rocking a checkered white tee.

You can guarantee that the Serb will be desperate to avenge that defeat this evening.

However, Dimitrov caused a huge upset at the Madrid Open earlier this month when he defeated the world number one.

Having fallen at the final hurdle last year, Djokovic is still on the hunt for his first-ever French Open crown and is the massive favourite for this outing.

It's the match that we have been waiting all day for, as Novak Djokovic goes head to head with Grigor Dimitrov.
