Raonic thrashes Fognini to reach Cincinnati semis

Milos Raonic dropped just one game as he emphatically dispatched of Fabio Fognini on his way to reaching the Cincinnati Masters semi-finals on Friday.

The Canadian broke at the first two attempts and twice held to love to race into a 4-0 lead, which he converted into a set advantage after just 23 minutes.

Fognini did not get on the board at all in the second set, but did pose more of a threat to the Raonic serve and could have made the scoreline more respectable had he taken any of his seven break points.

As it was, the Italian was wasteful when he had those opportunities, and world number seven Raonic showed no such generosity as he clinically took all three of his breaks to secure a 6-1 6-0 victory inside an hour.

Raonic will play the winner of Andy Murray versus Roger Federer in the last four of the tournament.
