Jerzy Janowicz marches into round two of Cincinnati Open

Jerzy Janowicz has reached the second round of the Cincinnati Open with a straight-sets win over Gael Monfils.

The Pole won the match 6-4 7-5 in just over one hour and 15 minutes to book his place in the next round before the rain disrupted the day's other games.

It was a comprehensive win for Janowicz, who needed only to break the Frenchman's serve once in each set to secure victory.

Janowicz will face either Jared Donaldson or Nicolas Mahut in the next round.
