Sharapova out of Cincinnati through illness

Maria Sharapova will not take part in next week's Cincinnati Open as she recovers from a stomach virus.

The world number two recently withdrew from the Rogers Cup in Montreal with the illness.

The Russian's omission means that world number three Agnieszka Radwanska will be the top seed for the tournament.

It is unclear whether Sharapova will be fit for the US Open, which starts at the end of the month.
