Connors not worried by Sharapova defeat

Maria Sharapova's coach Jimmy Connors has remained calm following the Russian's surprise defeat in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.

The world number three, who was playing her first match under the guidance of the former Grand Slam champion, was beaten in three sets by American youngster Sloane Stephens on Wednesday.

Connors tweeted: "Every good round starts with a bogey - not the start we wanted, so back to work tomorrow."

Sharapova will next compete at the US Open, which gets underway in New York on August 26.
