Tenth seed Francesca Schiavone has been knocked out of the Australian Open by fellow Italian Romina Oprandi.

Schiavone performed well below average as Oprandi enjoyed a shock 6-4 6-3 victory.

Oprandi produced a solid performance as she witnessed Schiavone make a countless errors.

Schiavone hit nine double faults as well as an astonishing 35 unforced errors.

Unseeded Oprandi managed to take her chances at vital times in the match, booking her place in round three.
