Novak Djokovic marks return from injury with first-round win in Australian Open

Novak Djokovic marks his return from a six-month injury layoff with a straight-sets win over Donald Young in the first round of the Australian Open.

Novak Djokovic impressed on his return from injury by claiming a straight-sets victory over Donald Young in the first round of the Australian Open.

The six-time winner, who was ousted in the second round last year, is playing in the Grand Slam following a six-month layoff with an elbow injury.

Djokovic, who is rumoured to be threatening a boycott of next year's tournament over pay, looked more like his former self in Melbourne as he earned a 6-1 6-2 6-4 triumph.

The 30-year-old wrapped up the opening set in just 23 minutes with a swift double break, and he continued that dominance by snatching three of Young's service games in the second set.

Djokovic dropped serve once in the contest, but it was not enough to wobble the Serbian as he progressed into the next phase in one hour and 52 minutes.
