Rafael Nadal has booked his place in the Australian Open second round with a routine win over Victor Estrella Burgos.
Twelve months ago, Nadal lost out in a dramatic final to Roger Federer, but the world number one dropped just three games on Monday as he secured a 6-1 6-1 6-1 win over his 37-year-old opponent.
Nadal dominated the match on Rod Laver Arena from start to finish and it was not until the closing stages of the second set where Estrella Burgos managed to find the breakthrough on the Spaniard's serve.
However, it was only a small moment of joy for the Dominican as Nadal comfortably secured his progress through to the last 64 in just one hour and 34 minutes.
Earlier in the day, British number two Kyle Edmund recorded the win of his career with a five-set triumph over US Open runner-up Kevin Anderson while in the women's draw, Belinda Bencic defeated Venus Williams in straight sets.
