Victoria Azarenka breezes into Australian Open third round

Victoria Azarenka reaches the third round of the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Barbora-Zahlavova Strycova.

Victoria Azarenka has secured a place in the third round of the Australian Open with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Barbora-Zahlavova Strycova.

Fortunately for the pair, the weather conditions did not affect their clash at the Rod Laver Arena, as Azarenka stormed in front with a quick break in the first set.

The second seed kept her opponent on the back foot with eight winners and swift movement around the court by wrapping up the opening set with ease.

The second set looked to be a formality as Azarenka broke early once again, but Strycova fought back to draw level on three games apiece.

However, despite Strycova scoring 10 winners, Azarenka managed to resume control of the encounter and finish the set with her name in the next round.
