Leaking roof causes embarrassment at Aus Open

Australian Open organisers were left red faced this morning when the grand opening of the new Margaret Court Arena was marred by a leaking roof.

The venue, which has been used throughout this year's Grand Slam event, had undergone renovation worth close to £100m.

Tournament chiefs decided to use Monday, 26 January - Australia Day - to show off the arena with an official unveiling ceremony, although just a few games into Stanislas Wawrinka's match against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, both players seemed to complain about the court being slippery.

Ball boys were soon ushered in to rectify the issue, before the roof was opened a little wider to stop the rain dropping on the court itself.

Wawrinka went on to win the tie 7-6 6-4 4-6 7-6 and book his place in the last eight of the competition.
