Thanasi Kokkinakis eager to manage time better at Grand Slams

Kokkinakis: 'I must manage time better'

Thanasi Kokkinakis has claimed that he will look to improve the way he recovers from matches after his second-round exit at the Australian Open.

The 18-year-old suffered defeat to fellow Australian Sam Groth on Wednesday, and he admits that he struggled to get fully prepared following his shock five-set win over Ernests Gulbis in the first round.

"My returning needs to get better. I'll take that away. I don't know. I think I just need to learn how to manage my time maybe a little bit better in between my first match and my second match," Kokkinakis told reporters.

"It was a new experience for me playing my first match. I just need to learn how to recover a little bit better, because I was feeling pretty sore and flat going into the match. So I need to work on that."

Kokkinakis has reached the second round in Melbourne in the past two years.
