Grigor Dimitrov: 'I could have played better'

Dimitrov: 'I could have played better'

Grigor Dimitrov has insisted that he can improve as a tennis player, despite impressing during his four-set defeat to Andy Murray in the last 16 of the Australian Open.

The 10th seed hit 46 winners against Murray in an epic confrontation in the Rod Laver Arena, but after squandering a 5-2 advantage to miss out on taking the match into a deciding set, the Bulgarian was disappointed to fall short in Melbourne.

The 23-year-old told reporters: "If you lose, you obviously haven't done some things right. I'm happy that I competed at a good level and it takes a player like Andy to beat me like that.

"I'm just disappointed because it's not the result that I wanted. For sure, I could have done some things better."

Defeat for Dimitrov means that he missed out on equalling his quarter-final appearance at the event last year.
