Dan Evans, James Ward, Brydan Klein feature in Australian Open qualifying draw

British trio Dan Evans, James Ward and Brydan Klein learn their opponents for the first qualifying round as they bid to secure a place at the Australian Open.

British number five Dan Evans has been handed a tough qualifying draw for the Australian Open with top seed Luca Vanni standing in his way in the first round.

The 25-year-old is looking to qualify for just his second Grand Slam tournament since reaching the last 32 of the US Open in 2013, but he faces Vanni less than a week after the Italian took Aljaz Bedene to three sets in Chennai.

James Ward, who now sits at 156 in the world rankings, meets Peter Polansky, while Brydan Klein will go up against Peter Gojowczyk.

The women's draw, which features Naomi Broady, takes place on Wednesday.
