Bedene awaiting news on British citizenship

Aljaz Bedene has admitted that he is excited about the possibility of representing Great Britain in the future.

The Slovenian, who lost to Novak Djokovic in the opening round of the Australian Open on Tuesday, has spent a number of years living in England, but the world number 116 must wait to see if his application for British citizenship is accepted.

The 25-year-old told Eurosport: "I have given all of the documents to the Home Office so I am just awaiting their reply.

"Hopefully it will be done in the next few weeks. It's something that I am very excited about."

Bedene reached his first final on the ATP Tour last week when finishing runner-up in Chennai.
