Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison claims that Novak Djokovic will be "on the next plane home" without a proper medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has affirmed that Novak Djokovic will not be given any "special rules" in the wake of his COVID-19 vaccine storm.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner has refused to publicly reveal his vaccination status but recently confirmed that he would be taking part in this month's Australian Open with an exemption.

The news has led to outrage within the Australian public - who have endured strict rules throughout the pandemic - and Morrison has insisted that Djokovic will be sent home without a certified medical exemption.

Morrison told a news conference: "Any individuals entering Australia must comply with our border requirements. Novak Djokovic - if he is not vaccinated - must provide acceptable proof that he cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

"If that evidence is insufficient, then he won't be treated any different to anyone else and will be on the next plane home – there should be no special rules for Novak Djokovic. None whatsoever."

Djokovic has won the last three editions of the Australian Open and would set a new record of 21 Grand Slam wins with victory in the 2022 tournament.
