Kelly Sibley believes that England's "fantastic" team spirit stands them in good stead for a successful table tennis campaign in the Commonwealth Games.

The 26-year-old kicked things off earlier today with an 11-9 11-4 11-7 victory over Cynthia Kwabi, before teaming up with youngster Tin Tin Ho to record an equally straightforward triumph in the women's doubles opener.

"Our preparation was really brilliant and I think we have all come together as one unit now," Sibley said following the doubles contest. "Our team spirit is fantastic and I think that shows when we are on the bench as well – we are always there giving it 100%. Let's see what happens.

"We were expected to win that match but you never know, so it is quite nice that it went as smoothly as it did. We prepared really well and I think that showed on the table."

Elsewhere, Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford also progressed through their opening matches, while Joanna Drinkhall completed the clean sweep of English success with a comfortable win against Ghana's Celia Baah-Danso.
