Paul Drinkhall: 'English table tennis is in good shape'

Table tennis player Paul Drinkhall feels that England are in a strong position in the sport at the moment following their success at the Commonwealth Games.

Paul Drinkhall believes that Team England are in a strong position in the world of table tennis following their performance at the Commonwealth Games.

Drinkhall and his wife Joanna won gold in the mixed doubles event as they defeated their England teammates Tin-Tin Ho and Liam Pitchford in the final, while the Three Lions have also claimed another two medals in the sport at the Games.

He told reporters: "I think Team England are a very good team all-round - you see other countries with a good men's team and a good women's team but they don't combine the two.

"We've got a great team spirit on and off the table - the best here by far. I think England have come to the tournaments in the past believing we can get medals and haven't always delivered but this time we have."

Drinkhall also won a silver medal in the men's team event at the Games.
