Team England's 50m freestyle Commonwealth Games champion Francesca Halsall has admitted that the fact that she felt gold was possible before the race made her very nervous in the build-up to it.
Halsall once again broke the Games record to just push Australia's Cate Campbell into second place and she said that winning gold at the Commonwealths made up for Olympic Games disappointment.
"I felt sick before [the race] because I knew everything was going well and I had something left in the tank," she told BBC Sport. "I knew I could swim faster and I wanted to. With me sometimes I can try too hard.
"I was saying to my coach it was nice to have this after London when I wasn't in as good a shape as I could have been having to compete. Being able to enjoy the crowd and put on a good show - I'm so happy."
Campbell's sister Bronte Campbell took bronze on the night.
