Fran Halsall vows to improve despite breaking Commonwealth record

Fran Halsall: 'I can be better'

Team England star Fran Halsall has admitted that there are aspects of her form that she needs to work on, despite breaking a Commonwealth Games record in the 50m freestyle semi-final today.

The 24-year-old eased her way into Saturday's final in 24.14 seconds, alongside her teammate Amy Smith.

"I'm just in good shape," Halsall told reporters. "I'm swimming fast, I can't complain really, but there's still things that can be better, I know, and there's still things from this morning that I took into tonight that I needed to get better on.

"It's just the race tomorrow night is going to be close, I know it is. I'm not favourite going into it by a long way, so, it's all about just getting up there and seeing what I can do."

Halsall has eight Commonwealth medals to her name.
