Giovanni Cernogoraz clinches gold in trap final shoot-off

Croatia have a gold medal to add to their tally after Giovanni Cernogoraz snatches the top honour in a shoot-off in the men's trap final.

Croatia's Giovanni Cernogoraz has given his country a gold medal after winning the men's trap final after a tense shoot-off.

Cernogoraz, who came from sixth place to claim the top honour, fought off Italy's Massimo Fabbrizi in a sudden-death clash, which ended 6-5 in the Croat's favour.

The contest was forced to go to a double shoot-off for both gold and bronze after a tight competition, which resulted in the favourite, Michael Diamond of Australia, missing out on a bronze medal after losing 4-3 to Fehaid Aldeehani.

Diamond, who missed five shots in the final, despite taking every shot in the qualifying rounds, opened up the contest, which allowed Cernogoraz to take the reins and launch into a 146 lead.

Fabbrizi managed to match the Croat's score but the Italian didn't have enough to challenge Cernogoraz in the shoot-off.
