Robin McBryde hails Welsh pack after France rout

Wales's forwards showed character in the victory over France in the Six Nations, according to coach Robin McBryde.

Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde has praised the performance of his pack after their convincing win over France.

After a subdued display in their 26-3 defeat against Ireland a fortnight ago, the Six Nations champions bounced back with an emphatic victory led by man of the match Gethin Jenkins and McBryde believes that his charges responded in the right way after losing in Dublin.

He said: "Only they can answer the criticisms that were pointed their way last week. They came back strongly, and I think it was a lesson against Ireland that you can't rely on reputation alone.

"The character of who you are is the most important thing, and to a man they showed plenty of character.

"The mini units worked - the front-row, the back-row, the two locks. All things considered, it is a step in the right direction, and I am sure it will make them hungry for a bit more in two weeks' time."

Wales's next Six Nations encounter is against England at Twickenham next Sunday.
