Warren Gatland: 'George North was fine to continue against England'

Gatland: 'North was fine to continue'

Wales coach Warren Gatland has backed the decision to let George North finish their opening Six Nations clash against England on Friday.

The 22-year-old suffered heavy head blows in each half, but saw out the 21-16 loss to Stuart Lancaster's charges, passing concussion tests during and after the match in Cardiff.

Gatland told BBC Sport after the game: "The medical team definitely wouldn't have allowed him back on the field unless they were 100 percent confident that he was okay. He seems fine at the moment."

Wales also confirmed that tight-head prop Samson Lee was concussed in the competition's opening game at the Millennium Stadium.
