Sam Warburton: 'Wales can still win Rugby World Cup despite losing key players'

Wales captain Sam Warburton believes that his side are top contenders for the Rugby World Cup, despite the loss of Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Webb to injury.

Wales captain Sam Warburton has backed the Dragons to remain top contenders for the Rugby World Cup, despite the loss of Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Webb.

Full-back Halfpenny and scrum-half Webb, both 26, are out of the tournament with injury, replaced by Eli Walker and Mike Phillips respectively.

Warburton told BBC Sport: "We've still got an absolutely fantastic chance to win the World Cup.

"If we want to be a side that wins the World Cup, it's got to be more than a 15 man team, it's a squad effort. So it's not a life or death situation."

Wales begin their World Cup campaign on September 20 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium against Uruguay.
