Wales stumble past Tonga

Wales have secured a narrow win over Tonga in their Autumn International Test at the Millennium Stadium this evening.

The home side dominated the opening spell, as Owen Williams and Ashley Beck both crossed the try line inside the opening 25 minutes, while Tonga struggled for possession.

However, Will Helu got the Tongans back into contention shortly before half time, breaking off tackles from Beck and James Hook before diving over.

The hosts thought that they had extended their advantage shortly after the restart, but a try-saving tackle from Siale Piutau spared Tonga.

Wales continued to be frustrated by the Tongan defence until George North found a gap with just over 10 minutes left to play, but the winger's effort was chalked off for an obstruction by Luke Charteris, ensuring that neither side scored in the second half.
