London Welsh experience a tough welcome to the Premiership with a 13-38 loss at home to Leicester Tigers.

London Welsh have experienced a tough introduction to life in the Premiership, losing 13-38 at home to Leicester Tigers.

Toby Flood opened the scoring for Leicester with a penalty in the fifth minute, shortly followed by two Thomas Waldrom tries, putting Leicester 17-0 up within 25 minutes.

Luke Arscott pulled a try back for London Welsh with a nice finish in the corner before Hudson Tonga'uiha added a second for London Welsh to leave Welsh trailing 10-17 at half time.

Welsh put in a spirited second half performance but they were unable to deal with Leicester's power up front.

Leicester added three more tries in the second half through Geoff Parling, Julian Salvi and Vereniki Goneva to secure the bonus point.

The match was Welsh's first competitive match at their new Oxford home.
