Deacon suspended by Leicester

Leicester Tigers back-row Brett Deacon has been suspended for one week by his club following an internal disciplinary hearing.

The 30-year-old was sent off for striking an opponent during the second period of Saturday's victory over Bath Rugby.

It is understood that the incident occurred following a melee after an injury to Tigers centre Anthony Allen.

A club statement said: "Brett has been banned for seven days and he will miss the Heineken Cup Round 3 match against Benetton Treviso this weekend. Brett regrets his actions which left his team with 14 men during the second half of a vital club match."

Deacon is currently in his second spell with the Tigers after spending a two-year period with Gloucester Rugby in 2010.
