England completed a 30-9 rout of Ireland to ensure a second-place finish in the 2012 Six Nations this afternoon.

Six Owen Farrell penalties and a penalty try gave Stuart Lancaster's side the resounding victory.

Ireland were within three points of England at half time as Jonny Sexton hit back with a penalty, but the visitors came apart in the second half.

Ben Youngs completed the demolition with a late try as Lancaster strengthened his claim to secure then England job on a permanent basis.

The result ensures a third-place finish for the Irish.
