Joe Marler looking for England reaction against Scotland

England prop Joe Marler urges his side to show a reaction to their defeat at the hands of Ireland when they face Scotland at Twickenham this weekend.

England prop Joe Marler has urged his side to show a reaction to their defeat at the hands of Ireland when they face Scotland in the Six Nations at Twickenham this weekend.

The Red Rose saw their hopes of a Grand Slam ended by a 19-9 loss in Dublin, but their final two matches of the tournament come at home as they face Scotland and France.

Marler is keen to bounce back from the disappointment of their first tournament defeat and hopes to make the fans "proud" when they welcome Vern Cotter's men on Saturday.

"We definitely need to see a reaction after losing to Ireland and because of the levels of frustration and the edginess we've seen in training, I hope there will be one. Ireland was 10 days ago but there's still a massive amount of frustration from the boys and me personally," the 24-year-old is quoted as saying by PA.

"But we have an opportunity this weekend at home to deal with that frustration and look to try and put in a better performance. Scotland will have plenty of ambition and have some experienced guys in the forwards, so it will be a tough ask at the weekend.

"We're lucky to be back at Twickenham for the last two fixtures of the tournament. It's our home, we love playing there and the crowd are really behind us these days. I hope we can put in a performance we're proud of and that the fans will be proud of."

England currently sit second in the Six Nations standings, with Ireland leading the way and on course for a Grand Slam.
