Jonathan Joseph wants "destructive" England backline

Joseph wants "destructive" England backline

England centre Jonathan Joseph has hinted that the team will look to play an aggressive and expansive game against Italy in the Six Nations this weekend.

Eddie Jones began his tenure with a 15-9 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield last weekend, although he admitted after the match that the team were unable to play their desired free-flowing style of rugby.

They travel to Rome to take on Italy next up, however, and Joseph urged his fellow backs to put in a "destructive" performance.

"We want to be a very destructive backline. Very good off set-piece moves, but just that work-rate to get in behind the forwards, bossing them around and when we see an opportunity [Jones] wants us to take it," Joseph is quoted as saying by PA.

"He's not going to have a go at us for taking an opportunity and not quite executing right. If we see a space we've got to take it.

"That's obviously something that a lot of us in the backline are happy about and pleased to play along with."

England sit top of the Six Nations table after one round of fixtures.
