Ben Youngs pleased with "collective performance"

England scrum-half Ben Youngs says that England put in a "real collective performance" to beat Ireland in their final Rugby World Cup warm-up match.

Ben Youngs has said that England put in a "real collective performance" in their Rugby World Cup warm-up match against Ireland at the weekend.

Stuart Lancaster's side secured a 21-13 win over the Six Nations champions at Twickenham with less than two weeks until their opening match of the tournament.

The Leicester Tigers scrum-half told his club's website: "Ireland are a quality team, number two in the world. We felt we left a couple of scores out there too, we had opportunities to score more. But an arm wrestle in pre-World Cup game is a good thing for us, it shows we can put teams under pressure and we needed to close out the game too.

"We were disappointing against France but it highlighted a lot of things we needed to address and I think we are in a good place. It's another game making decisions under pressure and another game fitter at this stage.

"The most important things is that it was a real collective performance. A win gives you momentum and the guys will be in a good place when we meet up again on Monday night. In two weeks it is showtime and we need to perform."

Youngs made his 49th appearance for England in the victory.
