Jonny Wilkinson admits that England are under "no illusions" despite being in a strong position heading into the World Cup.

England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has called on his national teammates to make ‘every second count’ when they kick off their World Cup campaign against Argentina on Saturday.

The 32-year-old, who enjoyed a win over Ireland in England’s final warm-up match, believes that focus must be resumed ahead of their opening fixture.

"We are in a good position but we are under no illusions. We need to be on the mark from the first kick-off and we have to make the most of the time before our first game," Wilkinson told Sky Sports News.

"That includes putting together the calls, all the rhythm and connection between each other. You have to make the most of that time.

"Every second counts as it has done for the last four years but now is when it matters. Form is a good thing to have behind you but it only counts if you make it count."

Meanwhile, captain Lewis Moody has revealed that he is working towards regaining full fitness for England’s clash with Argentina.
