Jonny May: 'England showed character in Rugby World Cup victory over Fiji'

England winger Jonny May says that the team showed good character to claim a bonus point in the Rugby World Cup opener against Fiji.

England winger Jonny May has said that the Rugby World Cup victory over Fiji was "a good show of character".

The host nation scored four tries on the way to a 35-11 victory to claim a bonus point.

"We went out to establish a hold of the game and everything was going to plan. Quite quickly with some loose play and ill discipline we lost control of it," May told ITV Sport.

"It was a good show of character to get back a hold of the game and finish with four tries.

"I feel frustrated because when we played the way we wanted to we could have won a lot better than that but it's a potential banana skin out the way and we got it back eventually. We'll take the positives."

England continue their World Cup campaign against Wales next Saturday.
