Second-half mistakes cost England against Australia

A strong defensive line from Australia sees off England in Autumn Internationals.

A series of mistakes cost England their half-time lead as they were beaten by Australia in the Autumn Internationals.

England took an early lead through a Toby Flood penalty before Berrick Barnes got the visitors back on equal terms with a drop-goal from midfield.

A series of mistakes by both sides saw a number of penalties awarded, with the score reaching 9-6 to England by the 33rd minute.

A busy end to the first half saw Nick Cummins score the first try of the game for Australia. Mani Tuilagi restored England's lead just before the break with a try for the home side.

Barnes levelled the scores within two minutes of the second half through a penalty.

Australia forced more England mistakes to open up a six-point lead, as they dominated in the scrum.

Thomas Waldrom had a chance to get England's second try of the game, but lost control of the ball before he got it down.

The number eight got a second chance for a try 10 minutes later but was tackled one yard short.

England continued to attack as the clock ticked down but rarely looked threatening against a solid Australian defence in the closing stages.
