Stevens out of South Africa tour

Matt Stevens has been ruled out of England's summer tour to South Africa with a shoulder injury.

The Saracens prop picked up a rotator cuff problem in England's 57-26 win over the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.

Rupert Harden of Gloucester has been called up to replace Stevens for the tour, where England face the Springboks in a three-Test series beginning on June 9.

Coach Stuart Lancaster said: "It's really tough on Matt but he has been assessed by the medics and he wouldn't be able to train or play for some time."

Stevens has made 39 appearances for England while Harden has yet to be given full international hours.
