The RFU announce that they will appoint an interim manager for England's Six Nations campaign.

The RFU have revealed that they will appoint an interim coach for England's Six Nations campaign.

The top job in English rugby is currently vacant following Martin Johnson's resignation, which was prompted by the nation's disappointing World Cup campaign.

In a press conference held this afternoon (Wednesday), the RFU also announced that Rob Andrews's role at the organisation has changed from elite director of rugby to professional rugby director.

Andrew, who has come under criticism since the tournament in New Zealand, will have no direct involvement with the national side in his new position.

"The most important thing is to make an apology to everyone involved in rugby for the performance of the World Cup and the surrounding events," said RFU chief executive Stephen Brown.

"We've let ourselves down as a sport and as a team. It's important we recognise that and take some action going forward."

John Kirwan earlier revealed that he would be very interested in taking the England job on an interim basis.
