England manager Stuart Lancaster says that he would consider adding a fourth coach to his backroom staff.

England boss Stuart Lancaster has admitted that he would be open to adding a fourth coach to his traditional three-man coaching team.

Lancaster worked alongside Andy Farrell and Graham Rowntree for the Six Nations before replacing the former with interim coach Mike Catt for England's tour of South Africa after Farrell committed to Saracens.

With Farrell having now left Sarries, Lancaster says that he may add a fourth spot to his backroom staff in order to accommodate both Farrell and Catt.

"Having three members (Lancaster, Catt and Graham Rowntree) has worked well but I wouldn't discount a fourth person coming in to give me a bit of breathing space," Lancaster told RFU.com.

"I will do what is best for the England team, certainly."

England earned a draw in their final Test match against the Springboks, having lost the previous two meetings.
